Donna Nelson welcomed members and guests to the News & Record.  The meeting was called to order by Keith Robinson, Vice Chair.

Sub-Committee Reports:

Outreach and Education 

The B&I Conference was Great.  Attendance was approximately 353 people.  The Hazardous Waste Session had the highest rating by attendees and the Stormwater was rated lowest with the comments indicating that the presentation was too technical.

 

TERG-No report

 

Regulatory Review 

Had meeting on Sept. 20 with 8 members.  The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 25 at 1:30 at the City Training Center.

 

Citizen Corps-No Report

The Conference photos are being posted.  Website links to the Conference vendors have been added to our website.  The member survey has also been posted.

 

Program 

Steve Preissler from NCOSH will present today on the Lab Safety Standards

Nov. 11 meeting will be at NC A&T (Editor’s note:  This meeting has been changed to High Point Fire Department Training Center).

Dec. 3 at 3 pm is the Christmas Social.  Location TBD and we need volunteers for refreshments

A sign up sheet for the 2005 meeting locations was circulated.  Please volunteer your site if you can.

 

Historical 

Pictures from the Conference were submitted to the Webpage Committee.  A member survey was presented to seek comments how to improve the LEPC.

 

Executive 

A meeting will be held on Oct. 27 from 2 to 4 pm at the Guilford Metro 911 Center to begin writing the LEPC plan for Hazardous Materials Emergency Response.  TIER II reports should be sent to Marilyn Braun for Greensboro, Barry Tilley for High Point and the LEPC for the other areas.

Emergency Management

Tornado touched down in Stokesdale resulting in EM activation.  It was a good response.  FEMA was contacted for assistance.  The Guilford County Emergency Operations Plan final draft is due.

 

NC Emergency Management

SERC is meeting tomorrow in Raleigh.  We have no information concerning the LEPC submission letter.

 

Board of Commissioners-Mary Rakestraw

A Florida company wants to relocate to Guilford Co. and is seeking incentives.  There are plans to redo the Planning Board to become more cross-functional.  The Board is looking for volunteers.  The Board of Commissioners met with the School Board and the Bryan Foundation to address school violence.

Alice Rimmer reported that the Triad Early Action Compact is seeking comments by Oct 27 for the voluntary measures  Comments should be sent to the W/S Chamber of Commerce.
