Treasurer Report – Bill Nieland
- Balance as 9/9/04 - $14,759.16
- Conference has brought in so far $8360.00
Historical Committee – Kevin Cowan
- Working on members survey and will submit via email.
Education & Outreach Committee – Debbie Meurs
- Currently have 191 people registered. Many are faxing registration forms to Debbie and some are registering on line. Thank you Dorothy Vannoy for the great job on the web page so people can register on line.
- Debbie has updated brochures listing all of our vendors & sponsors. She has registration forms if you need to register----Debbie needs a head count so she can give a pretty good estimate on the box lunches.
- The ads are running in the News & Record. Ad ran in yesterday’s Life section and will be in Sunday’s Business section. Next Wednesday’s Life section will run the ad once more. Thanks to Donna Nelson and Beth Earnst for putting the ad together—looks great!
- Sponsors & Vendors – your generosity continues to amaze me. Many of you are giving money both as sponsors and vendors. We have more sponsors this year than we have had in the previous years.
- I encourage all of you to support our vendors. Give them an opportunity to bid on your business---they are supporting our LEPC.
- Speakers are all in place.
- Need volunteers for moderators. Debbie will provide you with the information & bios on your speaker. It is very important to start and stop on time. Let’s remember to give attendees time to visit the vendors.
- Goody Bag items and Giveaways---please if you have something we would greatly appreciate your contribution. For the Goody Bags we would like to have 400, but if you do not have that much, please send what you have available. For giveaways, please be sure to place your business card on the item or items so Debbie can recognize you and your company for the donation.
- Golf anyone? Sign up sheets are available today.
- We do have a snag with the Coliseum. Rotary Club will be having a two hour lunch meeting in one of the rooms we need. Coliseum is going to give us one of the other meeting rooms that will hold around 10 vendors and the food will also be in that room. This will be a little different, but should not cause any problems. Debbie’s committee is meeting at the Coliseum on Monday (9/13) at 11:00 a.m. to plan the setup.
- We could use a backup laptop & projector. Anyone willing to help us? Please let Debbie know.
- Also, could use a couple of easels to hold signs. Ciba will make our signs—they will make one for each classroom and a thank you to our sponsors.
- Volunteers are needed to help with registration and technical people to help with the speaker’s presentations. Need some volunteers to help the vendors with setup.
- Thank you to the Education & Outreach Committee---Doug Canavello, George McClintock, Eddie Raynard, Alice Rimmer, Beth Earnst, Donna Nelson, Buddy Carter, Carin Kromm, Larry Eller, and Eric Patton.
- Some of the committee members may not be seen at the LEPC Meetings, but they work really hard on this conference each year. They truly care about it being successful and a good reflection on the LEPC.

County Commissioners or City Representatives
Other Topics:
- It was mentioned that we make available on our web page a form where spills can be reported and they will be sent automatically to Emergency Management. This would be in addition to calling 911 (when needed). Would this need to be added to our by-laws? Chuck Mortimore is going to speak with Steve Earp regarding this question. Dorothy Vannoy will be starting work on the spill form.
- Discussion on Meth Labs in North Carolina. Amazing how easy it is to make and the environmental hazards involved. We have a speaker at the EH&S Conference that will be speaking about this topic—should be very interesting.
- Ron Campbell mentioned that during a County Commissioners Meeting in July, a concern regarding the 100 Butane rail cars located in Star, NC was discussed. The hazard is the off-loading into tanker trucks to transport the butane from Montgomery County to Greensboro, because Star does not have a haz mat team. The state and federal agencies say it is safe.
- No old or new business.
