Reporting Hazardous Substances Spills:
1) Determine if hazardous substance exceeds RQ
     a) www.h2o.enr.state.nc.us/ndceu/Laws.htm
2) Spill must be reported to the 24 hour emergency
     response number 800-858-0368
3) Notify Guilford County Environmental Health
    Division 336-641-3771

Reporting Petroleum Product Spills
1) If 25 gallons or more of a petroleum product is
    discharged, released or spilled, or
2) Any amount that causes a sheen on surface water, or
3) Any amount that is 100 feet or less from surface
    water,
Person owning or having control over oil must immediately take measures to collect and remove the discharge and report the discharge to DENR (800-858-0368) within 24 hours of the discharge and begin to restore area affected by discharge.

Reporting Hazardous Waste Spills:
Contact DENR, Hazardous Waste Section 336-722-4852

Transporter: Give notice, if required by 49 CFR 171.16, to the NRC and report in writing (if required by DOT) to DOT. Take appropriate immediate action to protect human health and the environment (e.g. notify local authorities, dike the discharge)

Generator: If the release or spill occurs at a facility that can threaten human health and the environment outside the facility, then facility must contact local authorities and NRC. Notify HWS if Contingency Plan is implemented and before operations are resumed in affected area or if Contingency Plan fails in the event that it is implemented.

Used Oil: Generator of used oil must, upon detection of release of used oil to the environment - Stop the release, contain the used oil release, clean up and manage properly the used oil release and other material and repair/replace any leaking used oil storage containers or tanks prior to returning them to service.

Reporting Exceedance in Air Emissions:
If permitted facility has air emission exceedance due to equipment malfunction, contact Air Quality Division 336-771-4600 by 9:00 am of next day. 

If exceedance lasted longer than 4 hours, follow up with written letter explaining. 

If exceedance due to other than equipment malfunction, notify Air Quality at once. 

If the exceedance involves 112R chemical, also contact regional Air Quality Office 919-715-3467 (800-858-0368 after hours)
